With all the things going on in life, it's easy to forget about what's
really important: God. For many of us, it seems as though that since
we know that God is there, we can just temporarily push Him off to the
side while we struggle through whatever our current challenge is. This
idea tends to pop up that we can do it on our own, that being on our
own is great. Sure we know God is there, but for the everyday stuff
many of us decide that we don't have time for God and that we don't
need Him. Why is this? Are we really just too busy, or is there more
to it than that? Where did this notion that being on your own is great
come from? Why is it that when we're writing our final term papers,
preparing for a big date or practicing for the big game so many of us
just try to do it all on our own? Are we really strong enough to do
it on our own, or is this just an excuse made to try to justify pushing
God aside?
Time... Sometimes we have too little, sometimes too much... We divide
it up into sections, we classify it and sometimes we name it. So when
is God's time? An hour on Sunday? 30 seconds before a meal? At Bedtime?
Or all the time? While it may seem like there isn't room for God in
our lives outside of Church or Youth Group or saying grace before meals,
God is begging to be let into our everyday lives. While it may seem
easier to just do it on your own, think about the possibility of including
God in your soccer practice, or inviting Him along on a date. It might
seem a little strange at first, but God knows the way and can lead you
there. God has plans set out for us, so doesnt it make sense to
include Him into our daily lives, so He can lead us in the right direction?
God just wants to be included in our lives, to help us, to guide us,
to love us. So why not let Him?
Still concerned about finding the time? Get creative. Inviting God
into your everyday life doesnt have to be the traditional head
bowed, hands folded, eyes closed all the time. Why not just have a random
conversation with God as you're walking to school, taking a shower,
running on the treadmill, making dinner etc. It doesnt matter
where or when or how you do it, just do it!
