In the skit, Naomi was drifting from God because of problems with her
family, boyfriend, and youth group. Naomi was hurt, and didn't want
to show it. She thought she could do it on her own-without her youth
group, family, and without prayer.
"Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer
and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the
peace of God will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus"
(Philippians 4:6-7)
I know that in difficult times, it's really hard to turn to God and
say even a simple prayer. I sometimes feel like it's pointless when
I'm in times of deep sadness, but then I remember Gods love and
that he wants me to turn to him no matter what. Naomi was feeling hurt
and anxious about a lot of things, and all God wanted her to do was
to give it all to him, and pray. Prayer keeps our relationship with
Christ strong and fulfilling.
God is working in all of our lives, even if we don't feel he is. We
may be suffering, or feeling unstable. But no matter what, God's plan
for our lives is greater than anything else. Glorify him and serve him
to your fullest. If God doesn't give us what we want, it's for a reason,
and obviously that's not in his will for us. When you feel like you're
on your own, know that God is there. Pray to God and don't give up,
because God is answering our prayers, even if we can't understand it...
because God's wisdom and understanding is perfect, and our understanding
is imperfect.
"If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves
and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will
I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land."
(2 Chronicles 7:14)
That verse is amazing. It's a promise from God. And God will never
back away from it. When you feel ashamed, even dirty, it's extremely
hard to pray to God and ask him for forgiveness, or to even just tell
him what's on your heart. Sometimes you may back away. You might say
"Well someday I will come clean with God... sometime when the hurt
decreases" But you don't realize that all God wants you to do is
give it all to him and put it in his hands. Jesus came to this earth
to take away our sin, and to heal our pain, and he clearly shows it
by his death on the cross. And like the verse says, if you turn to him,
and humble yourselves, and turn away from sin, he will forgive your
sins and heal you.
"The Lord is with you when you are with him. If you seek him he
will be found by you." (2 Chronicles 15:2)
God has found you, and he's always there, but you need to look for
him. When you pray to God and seek him, he will be found by you. The
bible says that there's a time for everything, but in everything, we
should pray. God wants to have a relationship with all of us, and through
prayer, that relationship will build.
God wants us to find strength in him, and not only ourselves. That's
where "On my own" loses its value. God wants us to rely on
HIM, and find strength in HIM-not in ourselves. We can't do that if
we're trying to rely on ourselves to be a Christian, and to get through
life. "Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you."
